C.E.R.N to power up Alice in 2008 will this prove the Big Bang Theory?
Cern is the worlds largest particle physics center and sits on the swiss border near Geneva, one of its great achievements is the reason you are able to read this blog! yes it is where the world wide web was born. used by physicists to exchange information. So what is Alice? Well Alice is a sort of detector, for lack of a better word, that will analyze lead nuclei collisions occurring and about 50 times the energy of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), To put it simply it is a particle collider. So it is believed that particles colliding at high speed will form mini big bangs and form baby or a mini universe. The whole point in this is to study Dark Matter particles which is believed to make up most of the matter in our universe. Ok so now will this actually prove the big bang theory? well that is essentially what is happening here in order to form the baby universe. A point to consider: could this cause a catastrophic explosion as well and IE form black holes? Well that is what the particle accelerator that CERN is powering up in 2007. They hope to form mini black holes in order to study them. we have to remember that is something happens once Alice is powered up it could turn a theory into fact but also could backfire and we may lose our most renowned Physicists who for sure will be present. I for one would love to be there myself but am also willing to take their place in the lab!!! What are your thoughts on this??
